Solid Surface Overview

Solid surface is made by combining acrylic/polyester resins with powdered bauxite and pigments to give the look of natural stone or granite.

Solid surface is a homogenous material which is non porous. This means that most materials will not penetrate through and cause staining. As solid surface is decorative throughout, it can be refinished by professionals even after years of wear and tear to bring the material back to how it was originally.

Solid surface panels can be jointed together onsite by trained craftsman to achieve an inconspicuous seam. This look cannot be achieved with any other panel product or natural stone. Other properties of solid surface are listed below.

Thermoforming

To increase our scope within the solid surface market. We are upgrading our thermoforming technology as well as adding vacuum forming and hydraulic press facilities. These investments in technology will allow us to tackle more complex 3D solid surface projects.

Hanex acrylic solid surface is IDS’ own brand solid surface. It has the highest possible FR classification as well as being one of the more affordable brands, giving it unlimited freedom for use in domestic, commercial, leisure, transport and public sector projects.

Made in Korea and distributed through Latham Timber, HI-MACS® is made from a blend of 75% natural minerals and natural pigments set in an acrylic matrix. This modern material provides a high performance solution for horizontal, vertical and three-dimensional applications.

Kerrock is a non-porous, non absorbent material, making it resistant to bacterial growth. No off gassing of VOC’s are produced from Kerrock. This range works well for projects with a smaller budget and is distributed by Amari Plastics.

Krion® has a number of exclusive features: it does not have any pores, it is anti-bacterial without any type of additive, it is hard-wearing, highly resistant, easy to repair and only requires minimum maintenance. Orion is Porcelanosa’s own brand of solid surface and is 100% recyclable.

Marlan is created using mineral filler bound in artificial resin and is fully recyclable. Due to its composition the material is relatively easy to treat. Sawing, fraising, drilling, polishing, glueing and bending are all possible.

Staron is able to offer you, dependable performance, hygienic surfaces, 3D machining capabilities, 140 decor options, seamless and backlighting options. Originally manufactured by Samsung, Staron is now produced by Lotte and is distributed by Blackheath Products.
